In 1996, Mountain Lights was a teeny, tiny shop on Walnut Street in downtown Asheville (yes, less than 300 square feet!) stuffed with lighting and interesting finds. In the back were the wax vats, and most any day you would find us dipping and pouring the house candles. The cozy little space was filled with warm and inviting lighting, both electric and candle-powered, along with eclectic and funky finds from around the globe and from our own mountain community.
Flash forward to 2016: The shop moved around the corner to Lexington Avenue in 2006 (wow, has it really been 10 years?) where we now have more elbow room, and more ideas and inspiration for you. Whether you are looking for an unique gift, accent lighting, or a source for home decor that resonates with your personal style, you'll find a wonderfully curated selection of urban artifacts at Mountain Lights. We offer unusual lamps and pendants, George Hayes' lovely handmade pottery and water fountains, Asian paper lanterns, vintage furniture, granite servers, the ever popular Flaming Rocks, metal luminaria and Beehive pendants by the very talented Kelly LaForte, and much more.
Mountain Lights has been evolving over the last 20 years, just as you have! Your passion for interiors, for expressing your creativity through your surroundings, is our inspiration. We are so very grateful for your patronage over the years. What a wonderful trip it has been.
Please come by and check out the latest offerings in the shop. Don't forget to sign up for our e-card for all the latest scoop and sales. I hope to see you soon!
